The word chakra comes from Sanskrit and means wheel or disc. Chakras are energy centers through which vital energy flows, also called Chi (or Qi) in Chinese Feng Shui, or Prana in India. The principle of chakras is based on the harmonization and balance of the body's main chakras. The colors are those of the rainbow, seven in number, ranging from violet to red. Once the colors are combined, they form a single white color; the seven balanced chakras create perfect harmony/fusion.
1st chakra: root chakra, red in color, located at the base of the spine. It is linked to the survival instinct and vitality, the adrenal glands, genitals, bladder, spine, hips. It captures telluric energies;
2nd chakra: sacral chakra, orange in color, located approximately 5 centimeters below the navel. It is linked to sexual and sensual energy, the ego, reproduction, the ovaries/testicles, digestive and urinary systems, and the lumbar region. Seat of compassion and joy;
3rd chakra: solar plexus chakra, yellow in color, located between the navel and the base of the rib cage. It is linked to the stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, spleen and mid-back. Seat of will, power, transformation of emotions;
4th chakra: heart chakra, green in color, located in the middle of the chest. It is linked to the heart, lungs, thymus, blood circulation, immune system and cervical spine. Link between the upper and lower chakras. Seat of love, the ability to give and receive;
5th chakra: throat or laryngeal chakra, light blue in color, located in the throat. It is linked to the voice, throat, thyroid and parathyroid glands, upper digestive system, metabolism. Intuitive communication and creativity;
6th chakra: third eye chakra, indigo blue in color, located between the eyebrows, about 2.5 cm above the nose. It is linked to the pineal gland, hypothalamus, eyes, nose, ears, autonomic nervous system. Center for intuition and clairvoyance;
The 7th chakra: the crown chakra, violet in color, is located at the top of the head. It is linked to the pituitary gland and the nervous system. One cannot truly speak of a blockage with this chakra, as it opens as we progress in our spiritual evolution. It is the seat of our belief and value systems.
If these energy centers are out of balance, blocked, underactive or overactive, we experience various health difficulties, emotional balance problems, or areas of our lives are not fulfilling.
The pompom is a symbol of the spiritual openness of the being.
